These are the different places Ava will explore on her adventures in the narrative modules. Each new planet Ava visits has several locations she’ll spend time at.
These maps are labeled with different important locations. The player’s path through the level is marked, as well.
All Modules
Redbraid’s Ship and Tutorial Area
Redbraid’s ship serves as the home base for Ava’s crew, and the jumping-off point for all their adventures. Redbraid won it from another space pirate in a game of go-fish, so it occasionally needs some repairs.
💡 The game tutorial takes place in the belly of Redbraid’s ship, and is optional to access at the start of each module. In the ‘Trust’ module, the player must go through the tutorial before continuing on to the rest of the game.
‘Trust’ Module: Space Tortuga
Space Tortuga is a bustling spaceport, populated by all sorts of interesting space pirates from all corners of the galaxy. It’s broken down into three sections:
All quests: Space Tortuga Hub
- Where Redbraid’s ship is parked for repairs. The player can access all three other districts from this location
Quest One: Main District
Where the first quest of the module takes place. This is a large market area where the player can find Ramenbot’s ramen shop and Louie’s fruit stand, as well as various aliens, robots, and pirates.
Quest Two: Underbelly
The darker, underground area of Space Tortuga located beneath the Main District. Filled with lots of dripping pipes. Zeke is found in the tavern, Taylor is found in his tailor shop, and Captain Kira is found on her ship.
Quest Three: Sky District
The industrial area located above the sky district. Filled with lots of air vents. Marlene and Lior’s workshops are found here. Finding a space for Lior to calm down and destress marks the end of the module.
‘Trying New Things’ Module: Astrolabe
Astrolabe is a collection of asteroids where the ground is always shifting and things are always changing. The crew is looking for directions to a secret library that exists somewhere in this place, so Ava can find the Cartographer’s Guide to the Galaxy.
Quest One: Astrolabe Zone 1
Where Ava and her crew initially land. An active dock area and mining zone.
Quest One: Astrolabe Zone 2
An area with crumbling stone pillars. Ava will find Ramenbot here and talk to him about different coping strategies, before moving on to look for Lior.
Quest One: The Bazaar
A bustling marketplace filled with vendors. Lior is talking to a fabric merchant up above, and will share coping strategies regarding different textures with Ava. Redbraid is waiting for Ava beneath the shops, where she’s found a cave entrance.
💡 Even if the player talks to Redbraid first, they must talk to Lior before Redbraid will show the player the cave entrance and the story can progress.
Quest One: Ruins
A massive cave filled with ruins beneath the Bazaar. This is where Alidade dwells. Talking with her to discover the location of the secret library marks the end of quest one.
Quest Two: Secret Library Entrance
After discovering the location of the library in the first quest, the crew has arrived at its entrance.
Quest Two: Secret Library Room
Upon entering the library, Ava meets MAR10N the Librarian, the keeper of all its books. Here, MAR10N will give Ava a challenging quest to earn a library card so she can check out the Cartographer’s Guide.
Quest Two: Maze
The first step of the challenge is to navigate the library’s maze. Ava will find Lior trapped at the center of the maze, too stressed out to continue forwards. Only by petting Mup will Ava help them calm down enough that she can continue on to the end of the maze to turn the lights back on.
💡 In this portion of the game, the screen is constantly growing darker in a vignette around Ava, representing her anxiety while navigating the maze. In order to repel the darkness, the player must go to quiet places and use coping skills that Ava has learned. However, because of the context of the maze, some coping skills work better than others. If she uses a poorly-suited coping skill, the darkness will only clear a little, but if she uses a suitable one, the darkness will dispel to the edge of the screen.
MAR10N’s Desk
After completing the maze, Ava ends up at MAR10n’s desk. However, before he’ll give Ava the library card, she needs to complete one final task— cook him ramen!
Cooking Challenge Room
To complete her challenge, Ava ends up in a chamber with a kitchen. This is where the ingredient gathering minigame and ingredient combining minigames take place, so Ava can collaborate with Ramenbot to complete the dish for MAR1ON.
There are two steps to the challenge. Both steps get a practice round before the player attempts the challenge for real. The player will create different batch sizes of ramen depending on how many ingredients they gather/how perfectly they perform the timing minigame.
The first step of the cooking challenge is to gather ingredients.
- Ava must gather at least 5 units each of green onion, chashu pork, and noodles before the time limit in order to pass the phase of the challenge
Collect ingredients by hitting bubbles with Ava’s hook or her body
The second step is to help Ramenbot combine the ingredients by completing the timing minigame.
- Directional arrows appear from under the parchment constantly move left across the screen
- On a computer, hit the corresponding WASD key or arrow key when the arrow crosses over the blue patch on the left
- Correct timing will reward the player with points
- Perfect timing with reward a player with the word ‘perfect!’ and even more points

Once the player fulfills the cooking segment, Ava returns automatically to MAR10N’s desk to receive the Cartographer’s Guide to the Galaxy.
‘Needs’ Module: Planet Flannelle
The ‘Needs’ module takes place on Planet Flannelle, a rainy and forest-covered planet with lots of mushrooms and large trees. It’s populated by many different species of sentient beings, many of whom play instruments and wear grunge fashion.
Quest One: Planet Flannelle and Mushroomville
- Ava must first help Draven Todd build out his garden, then set up new buildings in Mushroomville. She also has to help Lior turn on the lights in the town.
